Use Your Own Brain to Improve SEO Results
76You Don't Need an SEO Book
Stop wasting money on SEO books; you can use your brain and achieve better SEO results. That being said, quite often it is difficult to find a simple, to-the-point tutorial on the subject. Most people who are just starting out with a blog want to be effective from the get go. The good news is, most people have enough experiences with using search engines like Google, MSN, or Yahoo and understand how to research something on the Internet. Ultimately, the secret to effective SEO methods is already embedded in the minds of any experienced Internet user. Here are some SEO helps and reminders that will get you started on building strong content that will drive traffic to your site.
Start With Simple Research--
Search engines, such as Bing and Google, have made search engine optimization much easier. Now when you type in a key phrase or word a variety of suggestions pop up based on popular searches. Paying attention to those suggestion are essential to writing any piece of content. In fact, after you have an idea of what you want to write about, first check out the popular key phrases in Google or Bing and find the most specific ones that apply to your idea and surround your article with those keywords. This will keep your writing more focused and will ensure that your content is more conducive to what people are searching for; hence, your content will be more primed and potent, and search engine optimization is born.
Being #1 On Google Search--
Being number one on Google search is great, but it will only take you so far. The fact is, a website can be primed for search engine optimization and have terrible content. Think about it, if you took all of the top searches from Google Trends and linked a piece of content with all of those keywords just the right way, you could have a very strong piece of content by means of SEO; however, that doesn't mean it would be content that would be interesting to readers or consumers. Anyone could muddy a blog post with "The Casey Anthony trial verdict was not guilty and so Casey Anthony was found not guilty; but in other news the Roger Clemens Trial will not include testimony from any Yankee players, even though Yankee players wanted to testify for Clemens. Roger Clemens was indicted for perjury and lying to a grand jury; that being said, Natalie Portman named her baby Aleph, and Aleph was the name of Natalie Portman's baby, but that doesn't really have anything to do with the verdict of the Casey Anthony trial, etc. etc." Sure, something similar to that could be webbed into something pretty humorous, but ultimately when people are searching for something real they want something real. Don't forget substance with content; it can be easy to focus on SEO and not enough on a quality article. Google and Bing may put you at the top, but that won't generate any revenue from advertising if your content is lame.
Use What You Already Know For SEO--
As was mentioned in the beginning, most of what goes into effective SEO you already know. The Internet has been around for a while now and almost all people have done hundreds of searches using a search engine. Aside from using the prompts from Google top searches, think about how you search for things. The key is figuring out how people search for things and using that language in your article, even focusing on it. The more specific you can be, the more effective your article will be as it relates to SEO. Being too general with keywords will make your results general, but with a little creativity and thought you can figure out more specific ways to bring people to your site. As I mentioned in the beginning, don't spend your money on any more SEO books--you can improve SEO results with a little research and commonsense.
To conclude, don't get too caught up in search engine optimization that you neglect quality content, because in the long run it won't give you the results you want. Use search engines like Google and Bing to find out what is currently trending and to find key phrases and words people use when they do a search. Try and find those phrases that are more specific to what you are writing about and use more specifics in your content. Be creative, and develop your own keywords and phrases that you think you would use for a specific search, and implement those into your content as well. Google may come close to knowing everything, but creativity can play a huge role in effective SEO marketing. I hope these SEO helps work for you; now go optimize your site!
