Writing With Your Expertise: Making Your Content Yours

The Internet is flooded with content. Content is king on almost every website you visit. With that in mind, many content writers fall into the trap of writing cliche articles that are uninteresting and unsuccessful. Don't fall into that trap! With all of the content on the web, pretty much every topic has been written about a million times, and finding some topic that has never been written about isn't your problem; the issue is getting your blog noticed by finding your angle on any given thing and bringing that edge to your content. The good news is, you see the world and have experienced it in way no other person has. Merely writing what has already been written and rewriting it in your own words isn't what I'm talking about, yet it is what I'm talking about. Find your way of seeing things and present that light to your readers. Here are some useful tips to customize your blog through original content:

1. What is your experience? Drawing from the well of your personal experience is essential to making your content yours. Remember, nobody has experienced anything the same way you have; that is, unless my mother has been lying to me all this time about everyone being special. Let's assume she wasn't. Take a topic, a product, or a story and look at it from your perspective. This can be challenging and may take some guts. Sometimes steering away from the accepted, cliche notions of society can be a little scary, but it will make your writing interesting.

2. Finding your niche. One way to better tailor your writing is to find a few areas that you have had a lot of experience in. Writing a lot from your personal area of expertise will make your writing more influential, because it will be filled with your personal insight and wisdom. Take John Chow for instance. This guy has made thousands writing about making money blogging. It is simple, but his presentation has his edge. He has actually made a lot of money blogging and it isn't the cliche of merely "How to Make Money Blogging" we've all read before. He's made the topic his and that is what you need to do.

3. Create a list of experience. Taking a couple of hours and creating a small database of your unique experiences and then talking them with possible topics is an excellent way to keep the ideas coming. Write an experience down as a topic and beneath that topic--in a few sentences--what the experience was. Then write a few key words and phrases that would apply. Be thinking about SEO as you do this and that will make your focus on a given article easy. If you will do this with a few dozen experience, you will have a well of writing for months. Remember, these don't have to be profound stories or life changing events. A few bad experiences with the airlines you've traveled on or a positive experience with your favorite product (iPad, Cleaner, Food) can make for interesting and useful content. The key is making it your content.

Take these tips and customize your blog with your unique view, you will get your blog noticed. Now, in review: don't keep writing about the same old thing from the cliche perspectives of everyone else. See content from your own angle. Sometimes this takes a conscience effort, but if you will take the time and make a list of experiences in a variety of areas you will have a lot of write about. Take these tips and customize your blog with your unique view, and you will get your blog noticed.

Good advice - I hope you will write more about it. I think it's important people start getting their own blogs. I notice HP tend to disable Ads on Hubs or unpublish them every now and then, which can be frustrating. Best thing is to have your own Blog and as you noted find your niche.... and take it from there.

Thanks
